Thanks for responding. I didn't mean to say that you're saying that we should all wake up early, I meant it in response to what Ryan was saying; I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear.

We are all unique and there are easy techniques to get ourselves into alignment with our natural rhythm, but staying awake in bed is not one of them.

Also, it's interesting that you say you were that way until about 40. Did you know that according to latest research most night owls slowly turn into morning larks from the age of 40?

Scientists still don't know why but most late-phase chronotypes (aka night owls) enter an advanced circadian cycle after 40 - this means that their daily rhythm is slightly shorter than 24hrs and as a result can sustain a good level of productivity on less than 8 hours of sleep.
